Charles A. Abbey papers, 1886-1889.

The Charles A. Abbey Papers consist of Abbey's diary kept during the 1886 voyage of the U.S. Revenue-Cutter Service vessel Corwin, Abbey's correspondence for the same time period, and 13 images of vessels, the Corwin's crew, and Alaskan coastal villages photographed during the voyage. Also included is Abbey's 1889 testimony summarizing the activities during the trip. This was used in a government report titled "Report of the Fur-Seal Fisheries of Alaska."
